How This Works
Maintenance loan entitlement depends on household income, where you study, and whether you live at home or away. For 2024/25: maximum loan in London is £13,022, outside London £10,227, living at home £8,610. For every £1 of household income above £25,000, entitlement reduces by approximately 29p, down to a minimum floor.
Household income means the combined gross income of your parents or partner (if applicable), before tax. This includes salary, self-employment income, savings interest and benefits. If your parents are divorced or separated, only the income of the parent you live with (plus their partner if they have one) is assessed. You can apply for an income assessment every year if household income changes significantly.
